This policy applies to purchases made through cryptotax.be (digital content and digital services).
1. What does this cover?
- Digital content/services: including (annual) reports, CSV/ZIP exports, read-only share links, scans & analyses.
- B2C (consumer) vs. B2B: below we point out explicitly where the difference matters.
2. Your statutory rights as a consumer (B2C)
2.1 Right of withdrawal (14 days)
For distance contracts you generally have 14 days to withdraw, without giving a reason. For services/digital content the period starts on the day the contract is concluded.
You may withdraw by means of an unambiguous statement (an email is sufficient) or via the model form (see § 2.4).
We must refund you within 14 days of your notification, using the same means of payment, unless you request otherwise, and at no cost.
Please note: if you requested that we start immediately during those 14 days, then upon withdrawal you pay a pro rata amount for what has already been delivered.
2.2 Exception for online digital content (check box)
The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to "digital content not supplied on a tangible medium" when:
- you expressly consent to immediate performance before the end of the 14 days, and
- you acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal.
This is exactly the scenario when you want to view/download your report immediately after payment.
What we show at Checkout (consumer):
Without this double consent we do not deliver immediately (you can still gain access after 14 days). This follows directly from the EU Consumer Rights Directive (art. 16(m), art. 14(4)(b)) and is in place to apply consumer protection correctly.
2.3 Conformity of digital content/services
For digital content and digital services, a statutory conformity regime has applied since 1 June 2022 (implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/770):
If something does not work as promised, you are entitled to repair, and if that is not possible within a reasonable period, to a price reduction or termination/refund.
We resolve technical faults as a priority; if we cannot do so in time, we compensate you in accordance with the law.
2.4 How to withdraw (if you have not waived the right)?
Send us, within 14 days of purchase:
- a clear email to [email protected], or
- the Model Withdrawal Form (Annex 2, Book VI of the Belgian Code of Economic Law)
We confirm receipt on a durable medium and refund you within 14 days using the same means of payment (unless otherwise agreed).
3. Our commercial refund policy (goodwill)
Independently of your statutory rights, we offer the following voluntary guarantee:
- 14-day money-back if (i) no download of the report/CSV/ZIP took place or (ii) we were able to analyze < 50 transactions for the purchased year.
- After a download or in case of extensive use (≥ 50 analyzed transactions), a refund is not standard, except in the event of technical non-conformity that we cannot reasonably resolve within 7 days.
- Abuse prevention: in case of repeated buying/refund requests or abuse, we may refuse requests.
This goodwill policy does not limit your statutory rights; in case of conflict, the law prevails.
B2B purchases: there is no statutory right of withdrawal. We apply the goodwill policy above reasonably.
4. In practice: how to request a refund
- Email [email protected] with:
- your order reference (Stripe ID or invoice number), purchase date, year and email account;
- or, for a statutory withdrawal: your unambiguous statement or the model form.
- We confirm receipt and respond within 3 business days.
- Refund: within 14 days of your withdrawal notification (statutory), using the same means of payment; for a goodwill refund we aim for the same period.
- Revoking access: upon refund, access for the year is immediately revoked (entitlement converted to refunded).
Pro rata (only where legally applicable): if you withdraw without the 16(m) waiver (that is, without the double checkbox) after having asked us to start, we charge the proportionate share for the service already delivered.
5. Complaints & disputes (ADR in Belgium)
Please contact us first at [email protected].
If we cannot resolve it together, you can turn to the Belgian Consumer Mediation Service (Consumentenombudsdienst, independent mediation):
Consumer Mediation Service (Consumentenombudsdienst)
Website: consumentenombudsdienst.be
Email: [email protected]
Tel: +32 2 702 52 00
You can also start online mediation via Belmed.
Note: the former EU ODR platform link was discontinued by the European institutions on 20 July 2025; the Commission now refers to alternative channels for consumer disputes.
6. Information and documentation duties
- Pre-contractual information: before purchase we show, among other things, our identity, VAT number, contact details, total price (incl. VAT), method of delivery/performance, withdrawal information including model instructions and the model form (or a clear link to it).
- Confirmation on a durable medium: after purchase you receive the contract/order information by email.
- Means of payment: refunds are made using the same means of payment at no cost, unless you expressly wish otherwise.
7. Frequently encountered situations
- Immediate access after payment? Yes, that is why we ask for your double consent at Checkout (immediate performance + loss of withdrawal). Without that consent, we only deliver after 14 days.
- Defective report/ZIP? We repair/redeliver. If we cannot do so in time, then a price reduction or refund applies (conformity rules for digital content).
- Gift codes/coupons: refund up to the amount actually paid at most. Coupons are not paid out in cash or reissued.
- Chargebacks: we cooperate with fair disputes; in the event of an unjustified dispute, we may revoke access.
8. Changes
We may change this policy, but never retroactively to your disadvantage. The applicable version is always available on cryptotax.be with a date stamp.
