Tax treatment in Belgium

1. A vault deposit is not a taxable event

Depositing USDC or cbBTC into a Mamo vault is comparable to depositing money at a bank: no realization. You keep the same economic position.

2. Auto-compound yields are taxable as movable income (roerende inkomsten)

The yields that are automatically reinvested are treated as interest income. On withdrawal, the difference between the amount received and the original deposit is taxed at 30%.

3. MAMO token rewards are taxable on claim

If you receive MAMO tokens as an incentive, the EUR value at the moment of claim is taxable income.

4. A withdrawal is partly taxable

Only the yield portion of your withdrawal is taxable. Your original principal stays tax-free as long as you do not sell it.
