DeFi coverage on one page

CryptoTax supports 25+ protocols and marketplaces with a uniform handling of lending, swaps, staking, bridge transfers and liquidity positions. That keeps your reporting consistent, even when your activity is spread across multiple chains.

Capital gains tax 2026: The capital gains tax law was approved by the Chamber on 3 April 2026. Since 1 January 2026 you pay 10% on crypto capital gains above €10,000/year. Cryptotax calculates this automatically. More info →

Lending

7 protocols

Interest from DeFi lending (Aave, Compound, Morpho) is taxed as movable income at 30% withholding tax. Cryptotax automatically detects aTokens, cTokens and interest accrual, and processes deposits, borrows, repayments, vault yield and collateral changes in your return.

DEX

8 platforms

Every swap between crypto assets is a taxable event under the capital gains tax (10% above the 10,000 euro exemption from 1 January 2026). Cryptotax processes swap and trade flows across on-chain DEX execution and linked marketplace sources, with FIFO to determine which lots are sold.

Staking

4 protocols

Staking rewards are taxable as movable income at 30% on receipt. When you sell your staked tokens, an additional 10% capital gains tax may apply above the 10,000 euro exemption. We support liquid staking, restaking, reward accrual and claims with EUR valuation.

Bridges

6 protocols

Cross-chain bridges (Across, Hop, Stargate, Orbiter) are transfers for tax purposes, not a taxable event. Cryptotax automatically links the deposit and withdrawal so your cost basis is preserved across chains, with correct matching of outbound/inbound legs and fee allocation.

📚 How is DeFi taxed in Belgium?
Tax background for your DeFi activity:

How automatic classification works

Every transaction goes through the same pipeline: detection of protocol context, event normalisation and tax classification with an auditable origin.

1

Event ingestion

Wallet, chain and exchange data are brought together into a uniform event stream.

2

Protocol detection

Signatures, contract addresses and event patterns determine which protocol is active.

3

Event normalisation

Complex on-chain actions are translated into understandable tax events per position.

4

Tax mapping

Per event type CryptoTax applies the right Belgian classification and valuation.

Yield tokens: rebasing vs non-rebasing

Yield tokens are not all booked the same way. That is why CryptoTax uses a separate model for balance-rebasing and exchange-rate based tokens.

Rebasing tokens

With rebasing tokens the number of tokens in your wallet grows automatically. The engine recognises that growth as a yield event and keeps the position continuity intact.

  • Automatic detection of periodic balance changes.
  • Split between principal and newly accumulated yield.
  • Transparent reconciliation in your event overview.

Non-rebasing tokens

With non-rebasing tokens your token balance stays the same and the underlying value rises through an exchange rate or claimable rewards.

  • Value build-up is tracked through protocol-specific conversion logic.
  • Claims, redeems and withdrawals are classified separately.
  • Correct cost basis at position and lot level.

LP position tracking

Liquidity positions are often the hardest part of DeFi reporting. CryptoTax preserves the full lifecycle of each LP position so you can substantiate swaps, fees and exits.

What is tracked automatically

  • Mint and burn events for LP positions (V2 and V3 style).
  • Underlying token components on every entry and exit.
  • Fee accrual and claim moments in the same position context.
  • Bridge or transfer flows of LP-related assets between chains.

Result in your report

You see per position when capital was added, how fees evolved and what the tax effect is on wind-down. This prevents double classification or lost context between transactions.

Veelgestelde vragen over DeFi en belasting

De meest gestelde vragen van Belgische DeFi-gebruikers, kort en concreet beantwoord.

Is elke DeFi-transactie belastbaar in België?

Nee.
