- From 2027 the tax authorities receive the data of your accounts at European exchanges through DAC8; Belgian platforms already report your accounts to the CAP from 1 December 2026.
- 2025 staking rewards: movable income taxed at 30%, Vak VII (Box VII), code 1444 (partner 2444), at the value on receipt.
- Return with specific income (self-employed, company directors)? You have until 16 November 2026. Already filed without staking? Contact your tax office through MyMinfin.
Until 16 November. Did you receive staking rewards in 2025 that are not in your tax return? Then now is the time to put it right yourself. Because from next year, the tax authorities are watching:
- 1 December 2026: Belgian crypto platforms report your accounts to the Central Point of Contact (CAP) of the National Bank themselves.
- 30 September 2027: through DAC8, the tax authorities receive the data of your accounts at European exchanges, with your 2026 transactions.
- And then? A staking account with years of history that never appeared in your previous returns stands out. The tax authorities can go back several years.
A forgotten item you declare yourself makes for a far better conversation than a request for information in 2027. If you file a return with specific income, for example as a self-employed person or company director, you still have until Monday 16 November 2026. The original deadline was 31 October, but it was extended after the cyberattack on the FPS Finance (read what happened, in Dutch).

If you did any of these in 2025, you probably have movable income that belongs in your return:
- put crypto in an Earn or staking product at Kraken, Bitvavo, Coinbase or Binance;
- staked ETH or other coins through a wallet or protocol, such as Lido;
- lent out crypto, for example through Aave;
- received airdrops or other rewards.
Even if you never sold anything: the moment of receipt counts, not the moment of sale.
📅 Who does 16 November apply to?
The deadline of 16 November 2026 (first extended from 16 to 31 October, then again to 16 November after the cyberattack) only applies to returns with specific income, including:
- profits or gains from a self-employed activity or liberal profession;
- remuneration of company directors or of a helping spouse;
- foreign professional income.
The deadline is the same for you and for your authorised agent (mandataris), and you file through MyMinfin (Tax-on-web).
Note: staking rewards on their own do not make your return specific. If you are, say, an employee with staking as your only extra, your deadline already passed on 19 July 2026. Don't wait until 2027: read on at already filed without staking.
💰 How do you declare staking?
For income year 2025, Cryptotax treats staking rewards as movable income, taxed at 30%:
- Taxable base: the market value in euro at the moment you received each reward.
- Where: Vak VII (Box VII), section A.2.c, other income without withholding tax: code 1444 (partner: 2444).
- Costs: not deductible from that income.
- Foreign exchange: if you stake through Kraken, Binance or another foreign exchange, also list that account in Vak XIII (Box XIII) and preferably report it to the Central Point of Contact.
Why it is forgotten so often: rewards come in small amounts, often daily, without you doing anything. If you only think about sales, you don't see them. More background in our guide on how staking and airdrops are taxed.
✍️ Already filed without staking?
Correcting online through Tax-on-web was possible until 19 July 2026. If that deadline has passed, the FPS Finance advises contacting your competent tax office as soon as possible to correct the mistake, for example through the contact form in MyMinfin. The sooner you do it, the better: it can then still be taken into account when your tax is calculated, and you get there before the tax authorities do.
🚀 Done in three steps
- Export your 2025 staking history from every exchange and collect your wallet addresses.
- Import everything into Cryptotax. Every reward is automatically valued in euro at the moment of receipt.
- Copy the amount for code 1444 from your report, or use the Tax-on-web filing assistant. Read more about the other codes in declaring crypto in Tax-on-web.
