Tax Events Editor: manually adjusting transactions in CryptoTax.be

What it is

The Tax Events Editor lets you review the automatic classification of your transactions and adjust it manually where needed. CryptoTax.be does its best to label every transaction automatically and correctly, but in complex situations (DeFi, NFTs, obscure tokens) you may need to step in yourself.

When to use the Tax Events Editor

  • A transaction is classified incorrectly (e.g. as a "sale" while it was a transfer between your own wallets)
  • The price or amount of a transaction is wrong
  • You want to mark a transaction as non-taxable
  • You want to add a note for your accountant on an unclear transaction
  • You want to add a missing transaction manually

Step 1: Open the Tax Events Editor

Log in to CryptoTax.be and go to Transactions in the left-hand menu. Here you will see an overview of all your imported transactions.

Step 2: Find the transaction you want to adjust

Use the search and filter functions to find the transaction:

  • Filter by date, coin, or exchange
  • Search by amount or transaction ID
  • Filter by transaction type (buy, sale, transfer, staking, etc.)
  • Filter by Flagged transactions to quickly see unclear items

Step 3: Edit the transaction

Click the transaction you want to adjust and choose Edit. You can adjust the following fields:

  • Type: change the transaction type (e.g. from "sale" to "transfer")
  • Date and time: adjust if the timestamp is wrong
  • Amount: correct the quantity
  • Price in EUR: set the EUR value manually if the automatic price is missing or wrong
  • Label: add a descriptive label (visible in your report and to your accountant)

Step 4: Flagging transactions for review

If you find a transaction unclear but are not yet sure how to classify it, you can flag it. Flagged transactions are visible to you and your accountant via the report overview.

Click the flag icon next to the transaction to flag it or remove the flag.

Step 5: Add a transaction manually

If a transaction is completely missing (e.g. a purchase on an unsupported platform):

  1. Click + Add transaction at the top of the transaction overview.
  2. Fill in all fields: date, type, coin, amount, and price in EUR.
  3. Save.

Automatic recalculation

After every adjustment, CryptoTax.be automatically recalculates the taxable capital gains. You will see the updated figures on your dashboard right away.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I undo a manual adjustment? A: Yes. Click the edited transaction and choose Restore original to revert to the automatically imported value.

Q: Can my accountant see my adjustments? A: Yes. Via the read-only share link for accountants, all transactions including your labels and flags are visible. See Accountant Portal for more info.

Q: What if I don't know which type to choose for a particular transaction? A: Flag the transaction and note a question in the label field. Your accountant can then help to classify it correctly.
